Dùng Future Perfect Continuous

1. Nhấn mạnh đến độ dài thời gian của một hành động kéo dài đến một hành động hay một thời điểm khác trong tương lai.

By the time my dad comes home, I’ll have been studying for 2 hours.

(Ngay lúc ba tôi về đến nhà thì tôi sẽ đang học bài được 2 tiếng rồi.)

He’ll have been staying at the hotel for a month by this weekend.

(Anh ta sẽ đang ở tại khách sạn đó được 1 tháng ngay cuối tuần này.)

2. Một số động từ (live, work, teach,…) dùng perfect hay perfect continuous thì nghĩa hầu như không thay đổi khi dùng với ‘for’

We will have lived here for 20 years by next month.

= We’ll have been living here for 20 years by next month.

(Chúng tôi sẽ sống ở đây được 20 năm ngay tháng tới.)

3. Không dùng dạng tiếp diễn cho những động từ chỉ trạng thái

They will have had the house for 5 years by next week.

They will have been having …

(Họ sẽ sở hữu ngôi nhà đó được 5 năm ngay tuần tới.)

4. She just called and said she would be here at 8 o’clock. By the time she gets here, we (wait)                                for her for two hours.
5. By the time you finish studying, they (go)                  to bed.
6. They (do)                    the test for 30 minutes by the time I get to the class.
7. By the end of this year I (work)                      for this company for 10 years.
8. My brother is doing his homework now. By 12 o’clock he (study)                for 3 straight hours.
9. Come to my home around 9 o’clock. By then, I (complete)                          my homework and we could play video games.
10. In June, my parents (be)                    married for 25 years.
11. A: By the time they finish going across the Sahara, they (hike)                                for more than 14 days.

B: And they (be, not)                          in a bed or (have)                    a shower for two weeks.
