Dùng thì present perfect continuous

1. Nói đến độ dài thời gian mà một sự việc bắt đầu trong quá khứ và kéo dài cho tới hiện tại (phải có thời gian ở trong câu)

We have been waiting for her for two hours.

(Chúng tôi đã đợi cô ta 2 tiếng rồi.)

We have been waiting for her since this morning.

(Chúng tôi đã đợi cô ta từ sáng tới giờ.)

2. Có nghĩa là ‘lately’, hay ‘recently’ khi muốn diễn ta một sự việc vừa mới xảy ra gần đây

I have been thinking about moving to the countryside.

(Dạo này tôi đang nghĩ đến việc chuyển đến vùng quê.)

She has been carrying heavy bags, so her back hurts.

(Cô ta vừa mới xách mấy cái túi nặng, vì thế lưng cô ta bị đau.)

They have been studying hard for their tests.

(Dạo này họ đang học chăm cho những bài kiểm tra.)

3. Một số động từ (live, work, teach,…) dùng present perfect hay present perfect continuous thì nghĩa hầu như không thay đổi khi dùng với ‘since’ và ‘for’

They have worked for that company for ten years.

They have been working for that company for ten years.

(Họ đã làm việc cho công ty đó được 10 năm rồi.)

4. Không dùng dạng tiếp diễn cho những động từ chỉ trạng thái

She has had this house for five years.

She has been having this house for five years.

(Cô ta đã sở hữu căn nhà này được 5 năm rồi.)
