(COMPARISON WITH NOUNS)
- Nhiều hơn: more + count/ noncount noun
S + verb + more + noun + than + noun (+ verb)
I have more apples than him/ he does. (he does = he has.)
(Tôi có nhiều táo hơn anh ta.)
He earns more money than me/ I do. (= I earn)
(Anh ta kiếm tiền nhiều hơn tôi.)
Nếu trong câu có object thì phải cẩn thận khi dùng danh từ sau than
I give her more money than him. (= I give him)
(Tôi cho cô ta nhiều tiền hơn tôi cho anh ta.)
I give her more money than he does. (= he gives her)
(Tôi cho cô ta nhiều tiền hơn anh ta cho cô ta.)
He gives her more apples than Dave.
(Anh ta cho cô ta nhiều trái táo hơn là anh ta cho Dave.)
He gives her more apples than Dave does.
(Anh ta cho cô ta nhiều táo hơn là Dave cho cô ta.)
- Nhiều nhất: the most + noun (count/noncount)
S + verb + the most + noun (+ in/of + noun)
He has the most cars in his family.
(Anh ta có nhiều xe hơi nhất trong gia đình anh ấy.)
She has the most patience of her friends.
(Cô ta có sự kiên nhẫn nhiều nhất trong số bạn bè cô ấy.)
They drink the most beer.
(Họ uống nhiều bia nhất.)
- Ít hơn : fewer + count noun, less + noncount noun
I bought fewer pens than him/ he did. (= he bought)
(tôi đã mua ít cây viết hơn anh.)
She drank less water than me/ I did. (= I drank)
(Cô ta đã uống ít nước hơn tôi.)
- Ít nhất : the fewest + count noun, the least + noncount noun
He has the fewest pens in his class.
(Anh ta có ít cây viết nhất trong lớp anh ta.)
She drinks the least milk of her sisters.
(Cô ta uống ít sữa nhất trong số mấy chị em của cô ta.)
